And yes! As you might have guessed, I did indeed have the hots for that old frame, I bought it, and less than an hour ago (while I was wondering whether to write a message to its seller ("Ahem! I hope that you got the money I sent to you five days ago"), it arrived. (Good timing, as it was then completely dry but a thunderstorm started within 15 minutes.)
I need another bike like I need a hole in the head, but an old geezer with more money than brains or space has to do what an old geezer (blah blah) has to do.
I definitely don't want to modernize this old thing so it becomes what it was never meant to be. OTOH I don't want to knock myself out getting ancient parts that are unlikely to be as reliable or durable as good old-but-not-ancient parts. So I'd rather like this frame to have Japanese parts from circa 1980, even though its maker (in 1961, and probably Stan Pike) probably wouldn't have heard of Japanese parts, or thought them a funny notion.
I'd happily swap your derailleur hanger for beer or wine or something. . . .
