Ever since I bought my trusty mama chari, I have had to take it sporadically to have the chain tension adjusted due to stretching the chain (I assume). The last time I took it, the mechanic said (it's far quicker for him to do it than me) that he couldn't adjust the tension any further, so I thought he would put on a new chain. However, he said he was going to cut a link out of the old chain and put it back on.
Fine, but since then, riding the mama chari has ceased to be fun as effort level required has increased, you can hear the chain grinding all the time when pedalling and it feels uncomfortable to ride. It is getting better, but my question is, would you just ride it on the basis that it will eventually readjust itself, or ask for a new chain to be installed. Maybe the mechanic thinks a new chain wouldn't work with the existing crank given that it must have been affected by the old chain...I dunno??? Any opinions?
